squirrels

squirrel thread where people can share photos of squirrels specificaly if they want to if they see any squirrels.  or have any old or new photos or both

these 2 wernt taken in the same locations in the uk but thought it would be interesting to add both species that Iv seen and that we have in the uk. one is common and the other is rare and only has a limited distribution in the uk.  there are also black squirrel or white squirrel forms. there less common in the uk  than the typical form the typical form is more likely but can still be seen. even though the typical forms are more common any forms are welcome on the thread not just typical forms.

  • Mine are rubbish compared to yours, Zo.

My wife said "You're always taking squirrel photos!"

It was actually very dark - the sun hadn't come up yet, but the phone compensated for the lack of light.

    Taken this morning

  • i used an m6 camara not a phone. i usualy use my m6 rather than a phone so i didnt use a phone for me and for that reason im not going to compare. with  a phone and  a m6 there two very differant devices. camaras like canon camaras are sharper than phones but you can still take sharp photos with a phone and you can still take good photos with them. your photo isnt rubbish and it isnt a reflection of how good you are or how good you took it personaly or anything else its just the conditions at the time it was taken that afected the photo as it can do with anyone. theres certain factors involved in photography like the one you said abouve lighting you said it was actualy pretty dark. it is good that the phone compensated for it. the photo below is abit far away which you possibly couldnt help at the time nesacerily. it isnt allways possible to get close ups with a phone due to how much you can zoom in  even though it is still possible sometimes. the one abouve is very good exspecialy considering the lighting conditions. all it is is that it isnt very sharp. when you zoom in or crop it tends to reduce the resoloution of an image so that couldnt be helped but if you press the subject your taking a picture of then you can sharpen the subject. if you keep the screen pressed down on the subject and then let go before you take  a picture then it will say AF lock and lock the sharpness you can also adjust the brightness of your image aswell before you take a photo.

  • Thanks for the information, Zo. As always it is very interesting and useful.

I have an even worse problem.

This is a picture of the back of my phone from the Samsung page.

The middle lens is the 'normal' one that you should use to take most photos. The bottom is used if you want to do telephoto pictures and the top is if you want wide angle pictures.

My normal lens is broken! It doesn't focus any more!

I am forced to either take a wide angle, or a telephoto. It's very annoying, but I can't afford a new phone at this time.

I have not been able to take a decent normal photo in years.

I do have an SLR camera - a Nikon d3100. But it doesn't have very good controls. They didn't think about the user interface very well. It takes several steps to adjust a setting, by which time the animal has long gone. Frowning2
