The citizens advice bureau are ignoring me now!

Social services don't care about me. The NHS don't care about me. Advocacy workers ignore me. I can't find a support worker; there aren't any available at the moment at the few companies that bother to reply to my e-mails at all. Now even the citizens advice bureau are ignoring all my e-mails!

I can't find anyone that's interested in helping me at all!

I've got noone to turn to!

  • I have heard that the Citizen's Advice Bureau was taken over by the DWP.

    I don't know how things stand in the UK right now, but there might be community centres or welfare rights places that might be truly independent now? It mightbdepend on the City you live in though

  • CAB, are still independent, but act like an arm of the DWP, the DWP sends people to them and many branches are overwhelmed by the number of cases. Many seem only to deal with benefit cases and nothing else, which was not what they were originally set up for, they were set up to deal with all sorts of legal and semi legal problems, such as consumer rights. I'm very wary of the CAB now, especially for benefits stuff, I went for help with my claim, some years ago and they didn't listen properly and made me sound totally violently crazy, I didn't recognise myself from what they written, I refused to use it as I feared that if challenged I wouldn't be able to support the CAB's claims about me. I did have a better experience during a couple of phone calls, when a garage failed to fix my car properly and basically killed it, I was given enough information about my legal rights so as to be able to challenge the garage face to face with confidence and a back up plan if they wouldn't agree with my legal rights.

  • That's why I posted what I posted. They seem to be too much in bed with the DWP now, and therefore not necessarily to be trusted
