Hi everyone!
I'm reaching out for some advice and support for my 22-year-old brother, who was privately diagnosed with Asperger's at 19. He's currently at university and has big dreams of becoming a barrister, though he’s also considering roles like paralegal as stepping stones.
Our family situation isn’t the most supportive—our parents feel their role is "done," even though my brother still needs guidance.
He’s incredibly bright and motivated, but he could benefit from extra support with things like managing finances, career advice, and life skills. He’s also struggled with friendships over the years, often feeling like the “weird” kid, and I’d love for him to find a community of like-minded people his age. In the past, his so called friends have made him an easy target, and bullied him.
I’d appreciate any recommendations for support services or resources in West Yorkshire or online, especially anyone experienced in helping young adults on the autism spectrum. I know he'd benefit from guidance from someone other than his "big sister"—sometimes it’s hard for him to take advice from me. (If you have any advice on what I can do to help best that would be amazing!)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I’d be grateful for any advice or connections you can share.
