Asd and Asperger’s

Hi is there a difference between asd and Asperger’s does anyone know

Parents
  • Asperger's syndrome was a diagnosis introduced in 1994 and removed in 2013, although it was still used a diagnosis in the UK for a little longer. It was considered a milder form of autism without intellectual impairment and where the person doesn't have speech delays.

In the DSM-5 Asperger's syndrome was removed as a separate diagnosis and rolled into "autism spectrum disorder", one diagnosis for the whole spectrum. Most people who had an Asperger's diagnosis in the past would be given a diagnosis of ASD level 1 now, where level 1 refers to lower support needs.
