Are all posts being moderated at the moment?

I started a thread earlier today and had to edit it twice, as I saw a couple of typos and I like my posts to be correct in terms of spelling and punctuation. After the second edit I got a message that it would appear after being moderated. Since then I have replied to a couple of other posts and both times when I clicked to reply I got the message that all replies are being moderated.

So I'm wondering - is it just my posts & replies being moderated at the moment, or everybody's? Did I do something wrong? (I have clicked on "report as abuse" by mistake in the past when trying to edit a post - why there is that option for your own post, I really cannot imagine)

If this post is being moderated by a human rather than a bot, please would whoever is moderating send me a quick reply to let me know what is going on - thank you.

  • perhaps think we were "oversold" what we might expect of the result.

    Undoubtedly.

I originally called it the same old forum but less broken but I've changed my mind.

Now I think it's the same old forum but more broken.

I am SHOUTING OUT about the UNACCEPTABLY APPALLING COMMUNICATION  WITH US, THE MEMBERS during this "roll-out of the 'new forum'" and I struggle to understand why this seems to remain the case.  Our members are being lost and anxiety is being caused.

    Thumbsup

  • I think we are almost saying the same thing.

appalling communications - I said 'usual PR type responses'

where I said to email the community manager (important - without the 'just') is was within a suggested 'rule' in a italics, when there really seems to be no other way - so the 'end' is to get someone to take off the moderation flag.

I'm bad at being crystal clear, sorry.

  • Mark - allow me to be crystal clear.

I am not casting aspersions on any individual nor any organisation.  I have no knowledge to allow this.

But, I do have knowledge of what I see, what I hear and what I experience.

    Accordingly;

I am CALLING OUT the rather poor delivery and implementation of this 'new forum' process - and based on what I can see here at the moment, perhaps think we were "oversold" what we might expect of the result.

    More importantly.........

If someone tells another person to "just email the community manager," then I think I will scream !!  To what end?

  • Bunny has taken longer than you to get back on, so I doubt that they have those powers.

  • I understand, I think...

It would be nice to have a set of 'actual triggers' along side of the forum rules - of known bugs and unchangeable 'features'

Your example is a good one...

Editing your own post several times (exact amount unknown) quickly will result in accidently being placed in pre-moderation - please contact the community manager to get this reset

I agree that the usual PR (Public Relations) type responses are not helpful to our brains and way of thinking. They may work for a water provider who has messed up all the rivers on Question Time, but we need specifics and truths.

(again, I'm not knocking the actual mods)

  • Bunny, the "rules" do not address the question/statement made by Pixie.

If the rules/"hints on how to use this place without tearing your hair out" said.....

"If you attempt to edit your own post more than twice, after posting, in quick succession, then you will be put in moderation and will be unable to post for an indeterminate period of time - for no reason.  We apologise for the inevitable anxiety that this may cause you but there is no way for us to stop this from happening." .....

I hope you will not mind me observing that the vast majority of your posts do follow the form and function of a "moderator" in this place, so if you do have special knowledge or access to the "higher-ups" here, perhaps you could raise these types of issue up the  flagpole for us.

Thank you (if you can help with that.)

  • Pixiefox,

Before the "great reset" on this forum, we had deduced (amongst ourselves) that if someone edited one of their own posts more than twice (after originally posting it), then this caused them to be automatically put into moderation, thus rendering them unable to post for a while......until a human moderator found time to check that this was the problem and reset you back to normality.

The people (presumably both paid and volunteer) who are responsible for the lead up, implementation and now fire-fighting phase of this great reset on the forum, do not share my definition of what constitutes a "reasonable level of communication" with us, the members.

This "great reset" has been, and continues to be a shambles (which I neither consider unexpected nor particularly shameful due to the nature of the beast at hand) BUT, THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION WITH US ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON / CLEAR INFORMATIVES / CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS is hard to understand and not acceptable in my opinion.

Bear with it Pixie.....all things find their status quo eventually.

  • Your account was placed under pre-moderation, as a result of over-sensitive filters having wrongly marked your previous post(s) as potential spam.

It's explained in the newly updated rules:

"Repeated rule violations may result in:
    - placing your account under pre-moderation – meaning your posts and comments are reviewed by a moderator before they are published
    - suspension of your account
    - a permanent ban from the Online Community."
