The original is great but it maybe slightly overshadowed by the 2003 cover version (in my humble opinion)

It's the placebo version I prefer but each to their own.

I had no idea that anyone had covered it, so I cheated and looked it up. The version I believe you are talking about is much slower, and in my opinion loses all the power of the original. But I just watched the video of Kate's original version, where she is dancing with a guy, and it brought a tear to my eye. Such talent and grace, particularly when you remember she wrote the song.
