What do your days consist of?

What does your average day look like?

My perfect happy routine was shattered and I’ve not been able to find a new routine since. I no longer have the luxury of going out for a drive, something I did, regularish. At home I try to busy myself but normally I’ll do the same thing each day which isn’t a lot.

Days consist of,

Cooking, reading, looking through pictures, listening to music and cleaning. I will occasionally go shopping normally now on a Saturday when I get my drink. I have thought of volunteering but I lack the courage to do it and I don’t have the ambition since being on my own.

Parents
  • Im having a hard time adjusting to being retired. I was a teacher for 32 years and my life revolved around my job. After the students became unduly challenging because of their behavior, I quit my job.

    1) I have not put in my retirement papers for my pension. I've been sitting on the paperwork for about 1 and 1/2 months.

    2) I've only been out of my home once over the last 1 and 1/2 months to go grocery shopping. Since I am by nature a reclusive introvert, I have found reasons to not leave my own. Since I was a Culinary Arts instructor, I have a freezer and 2nd refrigerator in the garage along with a wall lined with shelving for canned food and dried goods. After running out of sodas, I switched to water flavored with zero sugar fruit drink mixes. Afer running out of those, I have switched to ice water. Having long since run out of fresh vegetables, I am cooking with frozen or canned vegetables. While I have a case of frozen hamburger meat, I'm down to my last package of frozen chicken thighs. I'm out of beef and pork roasts. I'm out of sausages and potates, though  have plenty of rice along with canned and dried beans. I have sufficient food supplies to live on for at least another two months albeit on an increasingly restrictive diet.

Instead of teaching, I spend my days writing. I have a blog and am working on a fanstasy novel. I also read books on my tablet, play strategy games on my desktop, and watch movies on YouTube and Amazon prime.

Children
  • Fantasy novel? I’d love to hear more as someone who is just getting back into reading fantasy and is watching miniatures and role play tabletop videos online but not quite able to turn up to an event in a shop or club.

  • Retired Teacher, there is no mention of fresh fruit in there Perhaps you do not like it. If you do perhaps a visit to a supermarket is due. I tdon't know if you live with anyone, if not I think it is desirable for humans to be around other people from time to time to try and stay mentally well. Have you ever considered as well home delivery for grocries in the future to give you more choice? Hopefully they deliver to where you live.

I have been involved in some intense writing projects at home in the past, but need a second interest in the real world going on as well for some time away from home to try to maintain my mental health.

  • That sounds cool!

I'm wondering  whether to try setting up a blog for my reviews of various things. I tried to set up a Fanzine once, but u fortunately the I ternet took over, and photocopiers had a nasty way od doubling krvtriplung their prices once I found what seemed to be a good one. I used to write short stores too.

One old friend of mine write a lot of SF even whilst still working, and has gone back to painting too now.

I think it's important not to waste the time there now is.
