Advice for transitioning into a new job

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and know zero people in real life who struggle with the same autism traits as I do. I've finished uni this year (a huge achievement in itself for me) and am getting into the work force. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago where my employer said they had an understanding of autism and the challenges that come with it, but when I went it, I realised it was just talk. I broke down by lunch time, crying and going non-verbal and struggled with my employer to leave the premises. I've since resigned from that role but I know with the right support I'll be able to settle into another job. The problem is, I'm not sure what reasonable adjustments I can ask for as someone who really struggles with change and transitions. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions that have worked for them to help at the beginning of a new job? I think once I settle into the routine I'll be fine but that initial start is clearly very difficult for me.

Thank you. Heart
