Saying NO to Halloween trick or treaters

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I'd share some links for those of us who prefer NOT to have our front doors knocked on by trick or treaters.

Various police forces around the UK offer free posters that we can put up, asking trick or treaters to skip visiting our homes.

Compared with a home-made sign, my theory is that these are likely to be more easily recognisable from a distance (because others in the same area will also be using them), and might also be considered more "persuasive" by pesky little rascals!

I've only included a few links in this post, due to the forum filters. But other forces' posters can usually be found by searching online or by visiting their websites or Facebook pages.

Here's a small, random selection, by way of some examples:

Devon & Cornwall Police - SORRY, no trick or treat

Kent Police - NO trick or treating please

West Mercia Police - Sorry no trick or treat here

Wiltshire Police - a selection of (stylish!) posters

  • Or you can keep a bucket of cold water next to the door and throw it over anyone who comes calling, trick or treat isn't only one way.

Asking any adult with the children if they really think it's good parenting to teach children how to extract sweets/money/etc with menacing behaviour?

Put on a long black hoodie, a scary mask and gloves, open the door and howl at children fro a kneeling position, my son did this one year and was never bothered again!
