I got ear defenders earlier this year but I dunno if anyone else feels like this I get anxious wearing them in public especially local to me
It's like I dont want people asking questions especially when I dont have an official diagnosis and honestly with the symptoms I have I doubt a specialist would diagnosis mr even though I tick alot of boxes for asd it's just not the ones doctors often want ticked
Sensory overload is my major one but also I get great sensory input from my surroundings too
I'm much happier with my head in a book then I am going out with friends but at the same time if a friend invited me to a board game night or a card game night I'd snap up the chance but outside of these activitys I'd rather be with family than friends since I feel they understand me way more
i got some cause i had to take my cats to the vets for their annual check up. they used to drive me mad in the car meowing all the time, i don't care anymore now I've joined this site, i was less stressed I might of looked like an oddball but i felt so much calmer
My first set seemed alot better for but looked like(and its because they were) construction site defenders my new ones look like a cross between headphones and what people where in films on a shooting range
I have people all the time saying oh just wear noise canceling headphones but it's like yeah but defenders also protect your hearing headphones do not noise canceling is just cutting off outside noise whilst still blasting harmful levels of noise in the form of music where as defenders block noise of dangerous frequencies
And trust mr my hearing in one ear is naff due to years of loud music and working years ago as a volunteer sound tech at gigs
