Hey there everyone,
Like all of you, I've had social and other difficulties for over half my life, probably as a result of my confirmed - as of 2022 -diagnosis of ASD. I live in almost total social isolation, relying on my mother to house me, but would definitely like to finally have a good crack at overcoming these barriers and becoming independent.
I would like to practice or gain the necessary skills to socialise and work on confidence and the like so I can function as a human being. Does anyone know whether the National Autistic Society offers any kind of in person support service in the Newport/South East Wales area? I find there to be little in the way of social groups or support systems.
Thanks for reading,
Daniel
Hi Daniel and welcome to the community!
I'm not sure exactly what kind of services they offer, but there's some information here about the NAS's Newport branch, including contact details:

The most recent post on the FB page (March 2024) talks about them holding regular meetings where people can chat. It might be worth contacting them to find out whether this has continued as planned. Extracts from that post include:
The NAS's autism services directory doesn't seem to list anything else of a similar nature (within c.20 miles), but - of course - not all groups are listed there.
Thank you for this!
You're welcome! :)
