Hi all,
We realised recently that my husband is highly likely to be autistic, having a lot of the traits and common difficulties. He's not fussed about a 'diagnosis' as such at the moment but we're looking for some local counselling/therapy specialising in autism to help with low self esteem, managing emotions (occasional meltdown) etc which would help both of us.
Don't want to wait for the NHS, happy to go private, but is there a database of appropriate therapists specialising in autism anywhere? (I already looked at the directory on here) What qualifications/memberships do I look for? We are in the Leicester area.
I had a leaflet through the door for a local service quoting help with autism saying they were members of the British Psychological Society and bacp but just wondering who else is available nearby.
Thanks in advance
great thanks we will have a look

Find your location (there is a search function there too) and then click on the FILTER button to check the box for Autism and any other issues your husband needs to talk about.
Most offer online meetings too (zoom mostly) so if he is happy to do this then the number of potential therapists can be much larger.
