Leading an autism group

Hi every month this charity near me that helps people with autism find work has a bored game group. This local bored game cafe called social dice has kindly agreed to open early the 1st Friday of the month for us to have our session without the stress of the general public coming and going. One of the staff members has actually asked me if I am willing to lead the group as the charity is also pushing for the group to become independent and to run with out the help of Lizanne who is a staff that works for the charity. I am absolutely thrilled that I could potentially lead this group and the reason I have been asked to is because my independent and confidence has grown so much recently and I am a regular at social dice I go every Wednesday evening to a neurotypical event that also accommodates for people on the spectrum so I know all the bored games there. Today we played a card game called Salem and it’s all to do with the Salam witch trials it’s was really good fun. Plus this will look good on my cv as well.

  • Sounds amazing! Congratulations! Sounds like a great opportunity and I wish I could join as I love board games. Board games create a safe space where there are clear rules to follow, which is the ideal situation for an Autistic individual. It is also a good way to socialise, as the focus is on the game, not on speaking, which personally, makes it easier for me to socialise, and I don't have to look at people as we look at the game haha.
