Do you have an assistance dog or would you like one? What assisstance does it provide or what would you like it to do? What do you need it to assist with? What do you feel are the barriers to getting an assistance dog?
Does your dog also help with any of the co-occurring conditions often seen alongside autism (depression/anxiety/panic attacks/adhd...)? In what way?
I am an autistic dog trainer who is training two of my dogs (I have 5!) to be my assistants and would be interested in other people's perspective on the whole topic. Plus, dog pictures are more than welcome!
No, I wouldn't like one. I have nothing against dogs, some of them are quite sweet, but I don't like the smell of dogs, the barking, or picking up dog poop.
