Home scholling leaving school

Need help how do take my daughter out scholl during to her health  any ideas where I go and how go about it home schooling and tutors?

  • Good point. I just assumed the poster was in the UK

  • If your daughter does not have an EHCP all you need to do is notify the Head Teacher in writing that you will be "educating her otherwise than at school."   If she does have an EHCP, you will need to contact the SEND section at the local education authority. If you do home-school her, you will probably have to pay for everything - all her books and materials and for any tutors etc.. If she has an EHCP the local authority may provide some assistance, but you will probably need to fight for it.  Also, if she is getting any additional support at school such as speech therapy, you will either need to ask your GP or pay privately.  Generally, you should only consider home-schooling as a last resort unless you are really committed and have the necessary teaching skills and resources. If your daughter is secondary age, you will need to arrange for her to take public exams privately - this means paying for exam fees and for her to attend an exam centre - this could be over £100 per exam. Have you exhausted all the other options? The local authority should have provision for students with health needs, including specialist centres and home tuition.
