A few weeks ago I, as an adult, started having meltdowns from feeling a lack of control or a hopelessness to change. I'm also suffering with depression and only recently got my diagnosis. I'm really bad at distracting myself and usually just stay with the pain, but these meltdowns have me slamming my head against walls and I had to go to a and e yesterday for it. It feels pretty bad when I try to research information about meltdowns, and it mostly relates to small children.
Any experience with meldowns as an independent adult? Does anyone have any advice on avoiding them?
Hi
You my find this helpful: it's a YouTube video of autistic adults discussing what can trigger a meltdown and what going through that feels like to them as well as how families and friends can help. This is from a previous campaign run by NAS.
Best wishes
