Disability Action Alliance

I'm pretty cynical about these Government initiatives which are all talk - no action, and too little too late to help those excluded from PIP (see "Welfare reform - out of control?" thread under General topics).

But if there is any potential in this Action Alliance, set up by the Office of Disability Issues, shouldn't autism be represented.

Of the 121 organisations signed up on this I could only find 4 local autism groups, and there is no sign of NAS. Obviously there's a limit to how many initiatives NAS can sign up to. But is Autism visible enough that we can ignore initiatives of this kind?

The DAA purports to address education employment and TRANSITION. Do they mean the same thing as  autism transition?

Its also about independent living and inclusive societies - all things we should be hoping to benefit from. So where has autism got to in all this?

I consider this coalition government's callous and cynical approach to disability a disgrace. So I understand if people want to give our shabby fat cat politicians a wide berth...

But if they are offering frameworks to help us....why aren't we out there taking advantage?

Answers please (on a postcard) NAS?
