Hello online community users,
We would like to know if you would prefer our online community to be an open or closed forum.
The online community is currently an open forum. This means people without an online community account can:
A closed community would not be open to the public and only members would be able to read and search threads.
*Please log into the online community to vote*
Great idea Former Member.
Certain topics that are deemed sensitive could be in a closed forum with most of the site remaining open - this would highlight and emphasise the sensitive nature of the topic
I browse incognito signed out a lot so it would be very convenient not to be required to be signed in to browse.
Maybe there could be like a switch you can click for open or closed when you make your post?
A system could be created where most threads are open but if someone wants they are closed. Would that be the ideal compromise?
I feel safer with a closed forum.
I think I would like to see both. I think some threads and topics would be better if it was closed, but that some threads are useful for anyone to be able to see in terms of awareness and support.
Agree
Me like sci fi!
I think the fact you can join an open forum, but opt to link with others if you wish is good because it allows flexibility.
If it became closed I would not be involved.
I did look at it before joining.
I voted for an open forum because there are so few avenues of support for autistic adults and we need ideas of better ways to move forward in terms of campaigns, etc

A captcha system would help with bots.
It might keep out trolls ... but probably only about as much as it would keep out new members in general. It would have no effect on bots and spam.
not really. Bots still have to sign up to post and they seem to do that fine. All a closed forum means is you need to sign up to view it.
I don't think a closed forum keeps out bots or trolls? That seems the important thing.
I'm still worried about losing all the old threads.
I think an open forum will be better. It allows newbies like me to lurk first to see what it's like before and helps to decide if it's worth joining or not - which in my case I thought it was. Hi!
But the closed forum might help with keeping track of users better (since some people just leave the NAS000..)
Also a closed forum could reduce spam and bots as well.
yeah but we could just change the sign up process so you have to enter a unequi username on sign up.
I think open forum is good because you post without feeling like youre signing up for some random thing you arent sure of yet. My first post was without an account.
