Perhaps we can have a new "rule" making evident forms of non-human AI here as an offence.
I don't like what I see. Or perhaps the Genie is well and truly loose, for all of us, everywhere....unless in person, face to face?

.....not sure that is true in my case.....but then I am notably weird with all-things-medical.
I do take your more general point though....ie I think AI+Lidar and AI+ space mapping = super cool uses of it. And yeah....I was being argumentative (you know how I like to disagree with you)....medical science uses of AI are obviously great, but their INEVITABLE blurring into "data matters and pre-screening pre-cognition" make me want to argue!
That's fair enough. Driving can stressful at the best of times. We can only go off our own experiences.
My dad used to get incredibly anxious and bad tempered when he got lost in the car.
I suppose you could look at it another way. The invention of maps meant we had to learn a different skill set to navigating by natural objects. So satnav could be another extension of this - we are learning a skillset of multi-tasking. I don't think humans multi task very well.
I do wonder how anxious people got on in the olden days when driving to new places before satnav came about. There was possibly less, or different anxiety in the world back then so people were able to deal with that uncertainty a bit better. I like getting lost. It builds new connections in your head. The world won't stop if you get lost.
I think satnav is a good thing. A lot of people used to get very anxious about driving to unfamiliar places but that’s been fixed with satnav.
I’m a bit weird though - I always study the map of an unfamiliar place before I go there and have a sort of built in map view of the world.
I can't cope with satnav even as a passenger. I like maps too.

We are and I used to think the result would be our purpose would change into one of leisure but I now firmly believe it will divide us more than unite us. Like satnav (which I don't use) has deskilled us, (you could argue actual maps might have done this as well ie we don't rely on stars or landmarks to navigate.....but let's not go there right now), humans will - ARE - becoming deskilled in all sorts of areas, not least communication and general decency.
I was part of the last generation to remember life before tinterweb. People these days don't know any differently. I like to think "well we always have a choice" but do we....

Yeah, you're right. But AI may learn how to do that too, maybe. Colleagues were recently discussing how great AI is, having just learned that it could design lessons and tests for them, saving them work time.
I get that, but on the other hand, the next step could be that it does their jobs for them, and they're no longer required.
We're rushing towards the edge of the cliff here...
