Daughters DLA

My daughter who is 17 has been on DLA for a year due to her issues being an Aspie, falls and anxiety attacks etc has just had her case renewed again for yet another single year despite the same issues presentthat are not gonna go away as such she cant make use of a mobility scheme car to help her get around due to falling etc as you need to have an award for minimum of 3 years!

i'm sure she has been put on this for 1 more year again as they have not got the new pip programme up and running like they'd hope to have! We have asked to appeal the decision due to the award length etc but where can I go to get help with an appeal?

my daughter has recently moved in with me after living with her mum who wasn't handling the situation as best as she could for my daughter so she chose to move in with me. So i'm on a little bit of a catch up basis at the moment?

any help anyone can give would be great!

So how would you explain me getting a letter from them giving a fixed period award, me writing asking them to look at it again explaining my condition is lifelong, them replying directly to that letter advising me that they amended my award to be ongoing?

DLA is based on needs and not the name of the condition. It doesn't matter whether the condition is life long. Many people have life long medical conditions; but their needs are expected to change. Hence the reason for a time limited award.
You wouldn't be able to appeal on that basis either. At least you get DLA. Some of us (including me) are fighting to get our needs recognised by DWP for DLA.

Write to the DWP and ask them to look again at the award. They awarded my DLA for a fixed period and I wrote again and stated that AS is a lifelong condition and I will always have it. I also sent more information of how it affects me day-to-day. They amended the award to be ongoing.
