Hi,
This week I'm going to be starting my first ever job.
It's working with children at a preschool. I'm nervous because I have autism and haven't worked before, I'm a man and I worry what some people will think and I'm worried in case this isn't a success for me.
My Dad works at the school next to the preschool so that's why they are giving me this chance. I feel really lucky and I'm scared of letting him and everyone else down if I fail!
I did a trial day earlier in the year and they were really pleased with me. Because of the anxiety I never went back but they've been in touch since and are still keen for me to work there properly.
I'm excited but also very nervous. They ran the police checks which came back fine, I knew that would as I've never had that problem before.
I should get training before Christmas.
I thought I would share this as I'm feeling proud of myself.
Hi Aut! Well done and you should feel proud of yourself. You’ve obviously made a good impression. It’s only normal to be nervous before starting a new job but within a few weeks it’ll feel absolutely normal to be there.
