Hello fellow neurokin!
I thought I would start a discussion about books that celebrate our autistic identity (aimed at any age including children) as it is so important for our mental health as autistics.
Can you think of any other positive autistic identity books written by autistic people?
This list can be used as a growing resource when anyone in our community feels like they need some positive autistic influence or wants to explore their autistic experiences and the journey towards being proud of our neurotype.
Thanks for sharing, the book seems great!
Chloe Hayden's 'Different, Not Less' is very positive and affirming- it's aimed at girls and very young women but I still found it very helpful aged 35 because it resonated so strongly with my memories of my teenage years.
I have just started reading Stories of Autistic Joy, and disappointingly it is not affirming. Some parts of the book are quite pathologising.
So disappointed as I was really looking forward to this book!
