Hey all.
I am 30 and recently discovered I have autism. Loud noises really affect me. I was told I have anxiety disorder in my early 20’s and have never really questioned it since. I had a breakdown and had psychotic episodes. I am now wondering whether I was suppressing my autism and that was my body’s way of dealing with it.
Just want to speak to other autistic people and see if anything similar happened to them
would be nice to share experiences
Thank you
Thank you so much! This helps me so much! X
Hi and welcome, unfortunately it’s not until we hit rock bottom, then the true cause surfaces. It’s a massive epiphany. Most autistic people learn to mask at a very early age.
HI i also have autism same for me i hate loud voices & noises and I also have more stuff , but yeah I can't really explain really.
I had two psychotic episodes over 13 years and my psychiatrist also suspects autism over sz. I’m awaiting assessment by a specialist.
That was my experience.
psychosis usually pushes any autism traits to schizophrenia i think, if you meant psychosis
Hi
Until my brother was diagnosed as autistic, he thought he was psychotic. He was told that he was suffering from anxiety. The diagnosis has enabled him to make sense of it.
I often felt like i was having breakdowns i now realise that they where melt downs, when i was unable to cope and was very overwhelmed.
