Hope these threads are still being read as they are quite out of date, I am doing this on behalf of my 18 year old son as their is little support in our area of Tyne and Wear for Asperger’s and high functioning autism and I am just wondering if there are any males between 16 and 21 wanting to make friends or to socialise with my son, we have family in South Yorkshire and visit regularly so anyone from this area would be great also.
Have you looked at Hiki app?

Hi all I’ve just had notifications about my post now so thanks all for replying, it’s nice to know we’re not alone I agree the support for Asperger’s in the UK is practically non existent NAS take note!!! It amazes me how many ‘lonely’ people their are on here, for my son just to have a ‘friend’ would be like winning the lottery but better.
This would be perfect if we lived nearer. My son is 16 and is desperate to make a friend.
Hi just came across this whilst searching fir my Daughter who is 20yr high functioning attends unni whilst living at home and volunteers at a group for younger children with autism but finds it so difficult to make friends, has attended some groups but gave either been older people or young adults with learning difficulties. As a parent wish there was a shop where we could buy her a friend we are in the Essex area if anyone else reads this, daughter has talked to us about setting up something but would not know where to start
Support for autistic adults is hard to come by. This forum is the only good resource I have found. I do feel bad for the younger members I feel there should be a section for them here where they can mix and support each other.
I’m afraid to say that Support for people with high functioning autism or Asperger’s is pretty rare everywhere. there are a few young people here but most don’t seem to stick around for long. Perhaps because this place already has a older established demographic.
