Hello fellow autistic people! I know many of us have created discussions about the book Untypical, but I thought I would create another one as I have just finished it - it is brilliant!
I really liked Pete’s description of his response to attempts at small talk, it is very funny and relatable. I also really like his recommendations at the end of each chapter. He is a great advocate for our autistic community and I really resonated with the chapter entitled ‘School- The Harshest Environment.’
If you have read the book Untypical, what did you think of it/what was your favourite part? I would be really interested to read your review of the book.
In case you are interested, I have also found this webinar where Pete discusses his book:
https://youtu.be/lYGIbLpjjU0I hope you enjoy the book/webinar!
You are very welcome! I hope you enjoy it, I look forward to your review.
I haven't read it but thanks for this post as I haven't heard of it until seeing this so thanks for that
I'll try and get it soon and then reply here properly.
Thanks for the recommendations, I will research 'Send in The Idiots.'
Hello,
I would recommend Send In The Idiots by Kamran Nazeer. Of course there are books by Dr Temple Grandin such as Thinking In Pictures.
Hi!
Thanks for replying.
It’s great that you enjoyed the book too! Would you recommend any other books by autistics?
I loved the whole book as it really does describe life with autism so well. It taught me a lot about how I see the world around me and why I struggle in certain situations. I have loaned it out to people and hope they like it too.
