Hello, lookin for people around greater Manchester, or close to it? :)
Likely neither, unfortunately people who speak or type with utter confidence can latch onto a part of you that is anxious and rely on your anxiety to make their claim seem more credible. Especially if you are a bit too used to seeking second opinions on things to help you make up your mind on things.
It's not your fault eitherway though, concern trolls are often very skilled at that form of manipulation whether it's to get something from people or just wind them up for their sick idea of fun.I and others who don't fall for it have usually seen it all before many times so know what we are looking at when we see it. So less naivety and maybe just lack of experience maybe. Don't need to be harsh on yourself for it though.
I feel naive after all this. For a second I did get terrified a d started to research to find the truth. I guess that I believe whatever is told to me. Am I exceptionally naive or is it an autistic common trait?
Thank you
Honestly you don't need to be afraid in order to stay safe, just be sensible and have a buddy to be a buffer and give you an excuse to leave if you get negative vibes.I really smh when conspiracy theorists and muck rakers come on here to aggitate autistic folks who likely already have anxiety issues, it's irresponsible behaviour tbh.
I agree with you, I don't like the fear mongering, I told them to stop but they wont
OMG!
so you should never meet anyone you meet online and AT ALL TIMES communicate appropriately as it only takes one meeting with the wrong person and it will end badly?
Okay no, this ^ is fear mongering, to be careful you just have to agree to meet in a public place with lots of witnesses, stay in public, (take someone you know with you for the first meeting) and leave at separate times and take a different to your usual route home and obvs do not give them your address or describe the street you live on.You don't need a whole group (who most are strangers and can be used by predators who use the false sense of security of "being a member" btw) to meet new people you just need a single effective ally to help watch for red flags whilst you get to enjoy meeting new people because believe it or not most people actually aren't axe murderers.
Large number of ASD young people and adults diagnosed or not are in prison or mental health hospitals - ALL Sentenced to serious criminal offences! Just because any person could have a clear DBS dues t mean they have not committed a serious criminal offence?
Also if this is what you think of autistic people that we are all likely criminals this probably isn't the forum for you, because why would you want to talk to a community you already decided are probably awful people?
Research has shown that rates of criminality amongst autistics are essentially the same as for the population at large. Also, that autistics have lower rates of criminality involving violence than is found within society in general.
I agree with you, I hate the fear-mongering people do, it's horrible
No not everyone, just you stop harrasing me
The vast majority of people in the world are not violent or deranged. It's important to keep this in mind and not let fear or paranoia control our interactions with others. Please don't take on board and in your heart other people's fear-mongering.
However, it's also important to take basic safety precautions when meeting new people, especially if you don't know them well. Meeting in a public setting, such as a coffee shop or restaurant, is a good idea because it allows for a neutral and safe space to get to know the person.
It's also important to trust your instincts and listen to your gut feelings. If you feel uncomfortable or uneasy around someone, it's okay to end the interaction and move on. It's better to prioritize your safety and well-being than to continue interacting with someone who doesn't make you feel comfortable.
Ultimately, it's about finding a balance between being open to meeting new people and being cautious and mindful of your safety.
No problem.
I'd got freaked out by sending me a friend request.
Rule on here be nice to each other. X
Leave me alone, I've told you before.
The first few comments you made, leave me alone, I won't tell you again!
I know how to be safe.
Please leave me alone
I never had a criminal record. Is the priory group private or funded by NHS?
Agree as I socialise only with a woman group as its face to face. Also when meet people in the street saying good morning or small talk. Found this on the NHS website which is a good saying
do not rely on technology or social media alone to build relationships. It's easy to get into the habit of only ever texting, messaging or emailing people.
I used to have soical media pen friends as I was unhappy about being bullied in real life etc. I'd suggested to them get rid of all soical media and told me they need those. Unfortunately I can still see there soical media online (without logging on); this is an extract from a post I've written.
One of my friends went to Australia as befriend someone online. When I met my friend for the first time, went to a local cafe where I knew someone and in case something went wrong.
I used to befriend strangers on all soical media, decided to stop this and burying the hatchet. I was unhappy about being bullied.
