Non smartphone users of the world unite!

Who else on this forum doesn't own a smartphone? Comment on here if you don't have one.
I would love to know your reasons why as well

I have been heartened to know that I am not alone in standing against the mind numbing, anxiety machines that rule the modern world!

  • I dont watch much TV. Just a few hours a year! I have a TV and DVD player and that is for watching all my DVD's I hate adverts so that works for me and I like retro TV like Minder, 1980s neighbours, and other retro/vintage dvds and films. I prefer that. TV nowadays is rotten.

  • i have a mobile phone but not a smart phone, I just want freedom.

  • Meeee!

    Here's my reasons:

    • Pressure to call people.
    • Pressure to text people.
    • Spam phonecalls.
    • Spam texts.
    • Something extra for me to carry around which I really didn't like doing!
    • Had to be charged all the time, extra power being used which I can't afford.
    • Screen light bad for my already bad eyes.

I do not miss any of the above.

  • It's not a phone it's a tiny computer that rings people. But seriously it's been set up as an accessibility device because I need to manage so much stuff. With that said I never use it for things of a sensitive nature and would turn it off if I wanted to go complete "radio silence."
I had a non smart phone for years and years I only upgraded in 2020 and that was because the battery had burned out and warped by that point.
It just happened to coincide with my life getting more busy and complex at the start of 2021 so I just set it up to do what I wanted it to and turned all the other rubbish "features" off, or uninstalled the useless stuff. Nothing wrong with a smart phone as long as you don't jump to at every notification or get addicted to doomscrolling.

  • I dropped my smartphone and it smashed. I was in a period of massive stress so I thought *** it I'll get a dumb phone and I haven't looked back. That was 4 years ago. I haven't lost touch with anyone.

  • I have one but i've only got 5 people on my contacts list and it's switched off regularly throughout the day when i meditate so it's not a big problem for me. I got rid of my TV earlier this year and might do the same with my phone at some point
