hi Everyone

I just signed up. I wanted to reach out to you all. 

I am 50 years old never been diagnosed with autism but i have some traits I wonder if you can relate. 

1. When i watch stand up comedy i most the time get the jokes but dont always appreciate the humour. I get obsessed with the fact it makes me awkward even though i get the joke, but mostly dont laugh. 

2. I feel different to others most of the time. 

3. Sometimes i can be an a good communicator and feel relaxed in social situations

4. I have had over 57 jobs and been made redundant 12 times. 

5. i am finding hard to be consistent in my work, i am unemployed at the moment looking for a job. 

6. I live on my own feel isolated its horrible. but i have tried relationships find them too hard. 

7. AT times feel like in my own world and feel like giving up now i am 50 and have done my best with relationships and jobs. 

can anyone relate to these 7 ? is there any use or benefit of getting a diagnosis?

    Have you tried any of the online questionnaires? There are loads of different websites that host them, but my favourite is here: https://embrace-autism.com/

    I've only been recently diagnosed but spent much of the last 8 or so years researching and becoming more and more certain that I am autistic. I have spent most of my life feeling that I'm different, and I often have trouble forming relationships, but I've been told that I'm a good communicator and am happy to be social around people I know well, so I can relate to a couple of your points above.

    It can't hurt to try one (or some, or all) of the online tests and see what your results are. I think that for most people who suspect they are autistic, and in particular level 1, getting a diagnosis is a personal choice. There isn't really any support from the government or the NHS, but it can be good to have a definitive answer if, like me, you just can't not know one way or the other.
