Books - where to start?

Hello everyone, I'm new here.

At long last my 23 year old son has been persuaded to seek diagnosis and I'm keen to find out everything I can to support him. I've read my way around this website and it's great but I want more depth. There are so many books on ASD - would any of you have recommendations on where to start?

On a related note my reading so far has led to the lightbulb realisation that I might be autistic too, so do you have any recommendations for books on ASD in women (LOL - I've only got to 58 without any idea of why I've always felt different to other people.....)

Many thanks

  • I found Unmasking Autism by Devon Price really helpful. It confirmed for me that my self-identification as autistic was correct: I did still go for official diagnosis for my own peace of mind, but after reading that book I was confident that I was doing it for myself and not to prove anything to others who still might not believe me. It's also got some helpful therapy-style tasks in there.
