(work) Party Invitations

Hi all!

Thought I'd make a thread on this as it's been in my head for awhile now.

I've (along with the entire local workforce, about 40 people) been invited to a works party at one of the bosses' house after work. Partners are welcome, my wife doesn't want to go as she doesn't enjoy socialising with my colleagues.

When she said this I looked through the list of invitees and also thought the same. I only have common ground with a few people and the likelihood of actually talking to them on the night is low. I'm quite happy to not go but am preparing for the inevitable "Are you going to XYZ's party?"

Do I simply reply, "No, I didn't fancy it"? I hate having to lie and make up excuses but being outright doesn't feel appropriate in this scenario. Welcoming other peoples' thoughts on this one! What would you do?
