Is it normal for people with Aspergers Syndrome to do the following?

  • Talk over top of people when they are speaking on the phone or to someone else in the same room?
  • actively listen to conversations that aren't involving you?
  • have poor social skills when interacting with people?
  • keep talking when people tell you to be quiet?
  • actively listen at certain key words that are mentioned during a conversation for seemingly no reason?

I keep getting told that I should do a course in social skills, but I don't know if this is the right way to go about things

  • I have to join the club, I do nearly all. My biggest problems are interrupting, talking over people, having poor social skills.

I also can talk non-stop about something without letting anyone saying anything (my "monologues"), stop people talking by saying I'm not interested in what they're saying, lose interest in what people are saying so my mind wanders and I avoid using the phone.
