Protecting Children with Autism

I am very heartbroken with a story that happened to a young child with Autism 2 years ago in England. This child was only  12 years old . She was raped by a boy from school. She also cut herself. Her mom said they went to the Police Department to report what happened to her daughter . The Police convinced the child that it would be her word against the boy . The girl got upset and walked out . The girl was also jumped after school three times and video taped by the bullies . She was  cyber bullied . This child took her own life . The Police Department failed to protect this child with Autism . They need to be retain on how to work with people with Mental Health and rape victims . They need to do better. This is unacceptable. I am very passionate because I have a Nephew with Autism. I refuse to allow anyone to treat him in that manner . Where is their rights ? If the Police do not protect our kids with Autism or Mental Health who will ? We need to protect them .

  • that sounds like they need to protect all people better as that can be applied to any kid or person.

    but they should have been able to do some tests to varify her story right? i mean alot of the tests maybe intrusive but i think its past the point of being intrusive anyway. 

    and ofcourse if there is a scenerio where she or another child makes a lie about that can you understand they have to protect the other kid too on the case of that being a lie? as alot of people do lie to get others in trouble as a nuclear bomb button on them and it ruins peoples lives too and can cause a innocent person to have their life ended still.

    but yeah, there should be some form of test to prove it and prove whether that underage kid has been abuse that way. it should be more evident on a kid as there should be no sexual activity and if they find some sign by some test somehow then they can varify shes telling the truth. although what test there are im not sure, but there probably is such a test... if there is the police could do with training and awareness on the available steps to prove it.
