21 yr old son coming to the end of supported internship

My son was diagnosed with ASD at 13, took several years to get right support/funding in place .By time this was done he was starting college at 16. 4 years snd covid lockdown later he took on a supported internship at ALDAG cafe close to home. This was a last minute hurried arrangement as my health took a decline , surgery and 6months recovery needed , and only 6weeks to rearrange our lives in case  things got worse, which fortunately for me it didnt. My husband died when he was 4 so it's just been me, son and his sister  now 18 who gets really annoyed at having a brother that's different. Anyway his last EHCP is due this month and he is unsure what path to tread next. Internship means the college will not offer anything else now, he has to leave. I'm not sure if he is ready to work full time or do an apprenticeship as timing and anxiety are issues.  Anyone who has trodden a similar path I would be interested in how you found your way for/with your young adult.  Thank you for reading x
