Army

Is there anything I can do to try and join the army? I have an official diagnosis of Autism and now I'm really wishing I didn't because I've read before that it's taken in to account when applying to join the army. I've always passionate about the army, I love the idea of helping others and making a difference. My dad and grandad were both in the army and I really want to do the same. I'm determined but I've no idea how to join what with the Autism. My mum says it will be too difficult because of the problems my Autism causes me. But I think I'll be ok and it's worth a try, otherwise I'm constantly at home watching movies all day. Existing but not exactly living.

  • Go for it.  One of the big wigs, forgotten his name, in the Navy is openly autistic.  They ought to be judging by what you can do not your diagnosis.  Some autistic people are remarkably cool under pressure when others panic, or see out of the box solutions in a tight spot, if that's you it would be a boon for them to have you.
