So I thought I'd share an amazing story I read with you all
At the end of World War 2 the Berlin Zoo was completely bombed out, sadly many of the animals were killed and there was very few keepers to look after them.
However there was this hippo called Knautschke who survived even though his mother was killed.
This hippo became a symbol of hope for the wartorn people of Berlin and they all started clubbing together with the keepers to look after him. People would even give up their own food rations to give to the hippo to keep him alive.
Anyway, he surivived the end of the war and lived a long life and there is now a statue of him outside Berlin Zoo. Just thought that was a wonderful story!
