Finding someone to do an assessment

I've had a GP referral and lucky enough to be covered by private heath care.  So I now need to try and find someone/somewhere to do the assessment.


I assume there will be places/people that are better than others.

Where would I start in trying to identify somewhere to go?

I live in the northwest so Manchester or Liverpool are easily accessed... but I am willing to go everywhere from Lancaster to Cheshire (and anywhere in between).
Would probably consider going anywhere to get someone great (but if there are going to be multiple face to face appointments, that might not be sensible).


Can anybody help point me towards identifying someone?

  • I would look at local private hospitals and read up the experience of the clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. I’d they specialise in Autism etc then you know they will be up to things. Also, as well as this site, it’s worth joining local autism online groups and communities and asking the members. That’s how I found mine.
