Online work meeting difficulties - is it just me?

I sometimes struggle to "read the room" in online meetings and can find it difficult or draining to interpret those less explicit communication signals.

Is this just me, or is this a well documented issues for people with an ASC?

I have a very important meeting at work - that may result in me losing my job - which has been moved online, but which I would prefer to be face to face (f2f). Any evidence that this is disadvantageous for me would be very gratefully received and help me push to have the meeting f2f.

I have tried searching online for information on this topic but the results are hard to interpret as I want info on "online meetings and ASC" rather than an "online meeting" to talk about ASC.

Thanks - in advance - for any help with this.

  • For me it's more like I get very distracted and find it very hard to concentrate without my mind wandering off elsewhere.

I'd push for face to face if necessary. Is your employer aware you're autistic? If so they should make reasonable adjustments for you under the disabilities act which could include face to face meetings.
