I encourage you to reply, but not more than once a day, with a interesting new fact. Let’s stretch this out instead of dumping all the interesting facts out all at once. (Btw feel free to comment on the interesting facts as much and as often as you want)
edit: posting a source for your fact is strongly encouraged.
Sad. I'm a proud supporter of "Singe Sans Frontiers", a lesser known cousin organisation of Medicine Sans Frontiers.
We have achieved Groundhog! This matter of nostril dominance was discussed above in this thread.
"Nostril dominance" = what a great phrase?!
Yes, I think it was during the Napoleonic war. A French warship foundered off the coast, I don't know if it was due to the weather, bad navigation or the Royal Navy. Most of the crew sadly drowned, but the ship's mascot, a monkey, managed to get ashore. The locals thought he was a Frenchman and promptly lynched him.
I know that one..
IIRC the monkey mascot is called Hangus because according to legend, the Hartlepoolians hanged a monkey because they thought it was French... or something. People are so ridiculous.
Stuart Drummond was probably the only elected mayor in the UK to have campaigned successfully as a monkey. He wore a monkey suit throughout the run-up to the election, the mascot of the local football (soccer) team. He was elected in 2002 and held office until 2013 when the people of Hartlepool voted in a referendum to end the elected mayoralty. [Wikipedia]
It is true.
The human body is weird but wonderful. So I'm told ;)
Is that true?
That's interesting!
That's so cool ^^
Most people breathe out of one nostril at a time and the dominant nostril switches every hour or so ^^
The cornea is the only part of the human body that does not receive oxygen from blood. It gets oxygen directly from the atmosphere.
On a similar but less factual note, alledged to be the Inventor of the dance called "hokey cokey" was late to his own funeral.
Apparenlty, there was a big delay at the funeral home with lots of issues arising when they tried to get him in the casket.
It all started when they put his left leg in...
The youngest picture of you is also the oldest.
Interesting fact...
Fred Baur, the guy who invented the Pringles can was laid to rest in a Pringles can. His ashes were also put in an urn and buried with the can. The rest of his ashes were given to his grandkid.
I think it's just mathematicians showing off!
I still don’t..
I haven't read that word since I was seven years old! I never grasped it's signifcance...
If you converted all the matter in the universe into pens and ink, you wouldn't have enough to write out all the digits in a googolplex
Interesting fact of the Day.... There are more Stars in the Universe then there are GRAINS of Sand on the Earth.
50 per cent of world's oxygen in the atmosphere is produced by plankton
