Interesting fact of the day

I encourage you to reply, but not more than once a day, with a interesting new fact. Let’s stretch this out instead of dumping all the interesting facts out all at once. (Btw feel free to comment on the interesting facts as much and as often as you want)

edit: posting a source for your fact is strongly encouraged.

  • If you draw a Graph with time on the x axis and number of failures per 1000 manufactured items, the line produced resembles a bathtub.

IT starts high number of failures at the start then steeply falls to a very low level indeed where it stays flat until aging and use start to cause failures which is a much shallower upward slope. (Those with an imagination better than mine will be able to see the bathtub shape.

WHY this is interesting, is because it tells you that if you like me, need maximum reliability out of your gear, NEVER BUY IT NEW!!

I just saved you guys signifcant money and heartache, based on statistics and raw data, plus my own experience!
