I'm not even going to start about My Bizarre Obsession with the shoegaze band My Bloody Valentine...

Anyway, I'm currently obsessed with choosing a guitar to buy. This is despite me having two damaged fingers which are only slowly healing, and despite the fact that I've never been able to play an instrument (possibly due to autistic difficulties). More to the point, I can't decide - after weeks of indecision - whether I want the blue, black,or sunburst version:

I've loved guitars all my life but will likely never be able to play...so why the obsession?

    Firstly, it has to be Sunburst every time! 

    About my obsessions, I can relate in a small way.  I love language and words and spend a lot of time looking up dictionaries and other books about language, linguistics, etc. online.  I have added some to an Amazon wishlist and I monitor the price of them waiting for them to go down.  Whether I will buy them or not, I'm not sure.  I find it difficult to remain calm enough to read at the moment and haven't finished a book in years, yet I love the look and feel of them. 

    Also, just a thought...  I don't know your medical prognosis but it may well be that playing guitar might be just the thing you need to encourage rehab and exercise of your fingers.

    I love forms of communication. I think a lot of us love language or communication in general. That's exciting and interesting.
