My rather horrid stim!

Oh dear….. I chew.
I chew my tongue and feel totally ashamed when I’m caught doing it. I’m 69 for goodness sake and I have done this all my life.
When I was working I guess the very business of my job kept this in check and I’d just do it when alone.
Nowadays I can do it for days on end when very stressed and it’s not until a bemused grandchild asks me what I’m eating that I realise I’m doing it.
I know it looks horrid ( yes, I’ve been told this too) but I just wanted to know if I have any fellow ‘chewers’ on here!
We have a rather difficult funeral to attend tomorrow and I know I must keep this in check so this will add to the stress of the event as well.

The chewing does relax me at times though so it does serve a purpose!

  • Sorry you have a funeral to go to.

Interesting you mention this stim. My recent stim is chewing my tongue which I am constantly stopping myself doing as it is not comfortable. I do it when I am at home and not working. When I am out it is circling my thumbs around each other or finger and thumb.
