My rather horrid stim!

Oh dear….. I chew.
I chew my tongue and feel totally ashamed when I’m caught doing it. I’m 69 for goodness sake and I have done this all my life.
When I was working I guess the very business of my job kept this in check and I’d just do it when alone.
Nowadays I can do it for days on end when very stressed and it’s not until a bemused grandchild asks me what I’m eating that I realise I’m doing it.
I know it looks horrid ( yes, I’ve been told this too) but I just wanted to know if I have any fellow ‘chewers’ on here!
We have a rather difficult funeral to attend tomorrow and I know I must keep this in check so this will add to the stress of the event as well.

The chewing does relax me at times though so it does serve a purpose!

  • No chewing here - apart from gum- but I have in recent times got into a habit of (seldom at home but often when invisibly suppressing tension in work or in public) pushing my tongue into my hard palate - front roof of my mouth while my mouth is closed. I believe there’s a word for it - mouing or something.
