What will happen when I age out of the adolescent waitlist?

Hello; everyone

I’m coming up to 18 years and 6 months, which is when I will, according to the local neurodevelopmental service, be moved from the adolescent waiting list to the adult one.

Does anyone have any experience with being moved from the adolescent/child list to the adult list? If so, what was it like, how much longer did you wait for an assessment? I’ve been on the list for a year and a quarter, and am hoping that I’ll get assessed before I head off to university

  • Talk to your services ASAP.. Because what is Highly likely to happen is that you will start over on the adult waiting list, and that will likely be an extra few years and you will almost certainly not be assessed before uni. So get them to verify A. whether they'll see you before then. B. if any of the process (forms, interviews, etc) will be carried over to the adult services, and C. whether you'll be but back to the beginning of the adult waiting list and if so how long that will take. Make sure to emphasise the uni thing. They may not care, they said they did to me until it looked like it wasn't going to happen before uni and then they told me it doesn't actually matter. It does, lots of support requires funding some of which requires paperwork, your uni may or may not provide some of it anyway, but it won't be as much as if you have all the paperwork
