Also was this an inappropriate question from the DWP???

I posted earlier about my PIP appeal telephone hearing, I also wanted to ask if the following was inappropriate as I felt it was but I don't know what to do about it or if it even is?

During the hearing of course the DWP rep was able to ask questions and she compeletely blindsided me by asking if I go to watch my husband at his place of work (my husband plays sport) and she named his work location. I have never been asked about my husband before during this whole process not have I volunteered information about him or his work as it is irrelevant. The judge did actually say she didn't feel the question was relevant so the DWP rep did retract it and I said I thought it was strange that they had asked that and also that they had take it upon themselves to find my husbands name and look in to what he did for a living - what are your thoughts?

Aswell as it being inappropriate, in my opinion, I also find this is an insinuation that as my husband has some success that my conditions can't be too much of a struggle but maybe I am just being over sensitive.

  • I believe that the question was designed to blindside you and put you mentally off balance.

At my PIP assessment I was asked an irrelevant question which had nothing to do with the official questions or the assessment criteria.  My response was then used to discredit me and they concluded that I was both physically and mentally fit and able.  Result was zero points.

  • Thank you Jay, I do think it's time I accepted I need to get some professional help from someone/an agency that have experience with these matters.

  • I don’t think you’re being over sensitive. I don’t have much experience with these things but this sounds very intrusive.

I suppose it’s their job to investigate other people unlike yourself who may be cheating the system but it sounds wrong to me, especially if this is the first time it has been brought up.  Even if they retract it, it still has an effect on you.
