Verbal stim - Shrieking EDIT Also head punching

Hi all

Iv been struggling to find much information around verbal stims in adults, I presume it's something we mask quite effectively the older we get.

Now I don't do this in public and I'm not even sure it's a stim, there is no childhood evidence of this also.

I got myself massively upset yesterday, there was a a episode on  'the last of us' TV show, that focused on two characters and their relationship to each other (I don't want to give too much away)

I seem hypersensitivive to this , for some reason it triggers the hell out of me and I start balling , there is this noise that comes out of me during times like this, i can only it's a shrieking type noise.

I was highly emotional and upset at the time.

It's not done continuously, more like up to 5 bursts.

I had to put my hand over my mouth yesterday because I was getting weirded out by it.

Im aware of some of my stims, picking the side of my fingers, fidgeting, tying/fixing my shoelaces multiple times (I think this covert rocking I'm doing as I'm seated).

Im waiting on hearing back from my mum about other possible ones from childhood but she's pretty sure I didn't make noises.

Just an edit to the question but in same vein.

Had a bit of a meltdown on the phone the other day and ended up hitting myself with the palm of my hand against the side of my head.

I have done this in the past, both with my palm and a fist.

I have since learned that this could be a stim , was just wondering if anyone else does it

Anyone relate to this at all??

Many thanks Thumbsup tone1
