Social support

Hi,

I've been told I can and should get support for my struggles. I need help making phone calls, emails, getting to an autism support club and similar issues.

Ive been told 4 hours a week but I've also been told I need to pay £47 a week. I've said I can't afford any money as I'm only one disabilities benefits and they said I have to or I can't have the help.

I feel really let down and upset. Has anyone got advice for fighting against things like this? Or who can help.

Thank you!

  • I am in this situation and currently fighting PIP for some money so I can come close to affording help. Unfortunately because I'm at uni and I walk the dog, they have turned me down.

I have started to ask friends to help me and my therapist gives me nudges to get things done. Is this something you can do? I have a friend who collects my medication for me when I can't, one who checks whether or not I'm nesting and helps me find the cause. I have also just made contact with a local charity who will be able to help me with phone calls and emails etc. I have a mentor at uni but he's useless and starts looking for ways to end the appointment as soon as it's started.

I also have my supervisor at uni who reminds me to take care of myself and my mental health. He keeps telling me off for overloading myself.

I don't know if any of this will help you to come up with some plans. I hope so.
