I'm struggling with coping

I have been really struggling recently with everything going on. Everything feels uncertain and I don't know what to do. I've been waiting for my autism diagnosis for over a year and I still haven't had the first appointment. I haven't even heard anything about when it could possibly be. All I know is that I will have one at some point. No when. No where. No place where I can contact and ask for an update. Nothing. It feels like there is nothing being done at all and that I have been forgotten some how. And the letter I got with information about the process (which wasn't very helpful), specifically said to not contact them asking for an update. I have been thinking about going and getting a private diagnosis but they are so expensive I can't afford it. Thinking about it all is making my anxiety come back (which I have been fine with for a few years now). If anyone has any advice on what I can do to help speed the process up and take me through what the process for then was when they finally had their appointments with everything I should be ready for and have on hand documents/information wise then that would be great.

  • This sounds so stressful and it’s horrible that any reasonable timeframe takes a private appointment because the system’s under so much pressure generally. Is there anyone who can help with subbing you the money and you could then pay back in installments? Family or a trusted friend?

  • I wish I did but no. I'm also currently at uni so I don't even have a job right now so I can't even start saving up for it. My friends are struggling with money as well because of the cost of living crisis (which is understandable) and my parents (they're the only people I would be comfortable asking money from if I had to) would say to just wait it out and they'll get to you when they get to you, which isn't very helpful to me.
