I have difficulty making friends full stop but a few years ago I started a new job and moved to where I only knew my boyfriend. I had hoped that work would be a good place to meet people and socialise a little (which I have done with jobs in the past) but I still feel like I don’t fit in.
From what I can see, the other staff go out a lot in little friendship groups, sometimes even going out all together.
I feel really awkward whenever people chat, and try and find some work to do. I feel like no one really knows me very well, but I feel like they don’t really like me either.
I have made a few friends in the area now but I miss having people that you can chat to if you are upset, go out with at the last minute if you’ve had a hard day etc.
Any ideas?
