Assessment waiting list on NHS

After having our son diagnosed with ASC, it was suggested I undergo an Adult autism assessment - to help me better understand the struggle I have - which were common to ASC, after going through our sons assessment.

I've just had my letter from the NHS to advise that the waiting list is 5, yes, FIVE years.

How is this acceptable!

My suspected ASC is mild - what about others who need support now, not five years time!

  • I have been on the waiting list for 3 years and was told that it would be another year at least. Went to my GP and asked about NHS right to choose. They don't voulenteer the information but they paired me eith a private provider and i was refered this week, waiting list 4-6 months. Try asking your GP about right to choose?
