autism

I'm having trouble understanding what people are saying to me. It's not going in to my brain. TI can see their lips move and that's it. Is this part of my Autism or ADHD. Or could it be stress.

  • Stress can cause overload, my hearing can disappear or ‘zone out’ (not sure the best description) if I’m about to have a panic attack/meltdown. If you can hear other noises OK and no obvious hearing loss it could be auditory processing disorder which a lot of people with ADHD seem to struggle with. Your ears hear the sound but your brain struggles to interpret it

  • Hiya,

I have the same problem and I'm autistic so it might be your autism (might be ADHD though).

The stress is what's making it obvious to you, usually your brain works extra hard to take in the information but currently your brain is being overworked by the stress and therefore can't work the same as it usually would to take in the information.

Once you work through the stress you should be capable of understanding the information again, feel free to offload on here anytime
